The other day, I decided to look for a job not on HH.ru, but directly on the big tech company websites. Maybe there’s something interesting there that isn’t on HeadHunter?
In the end, I spent an hour and a half combing through the Yandex Career site (the job portal of Yandex), found something that was somewhat aligned with my stack, and wrote a nice response.
Auto-rejection in 10 minutes.
It’s obvious that bots have been filtering us for a long time. At least, I’m sure that the initial filtering of all resumes happens through LLM agents.
If hiring has been automated, can’t we automate the job search as well? Fair point!
Thus, yandex_vacancy_search (link to GitHub) was born — a small tool for searching job listings on Yandex Career with filtering through LLM tailored to a specific profile.
Essentially, the pipeline is very simple:
- It parses job listings from Yandex Career through the internal API (so pagination works, without the hassle of beautifulsoup)
- It stores them in SQLite to avoid duplicates or to work with a blacklist
- It runs new job listings through the LLM API and keeps only the relevant ones (you need to specify your stack in the LLM prompt)
Yes, you need an API key from openrouter for gpt4o-mini. But the upside is that it costs next to nothing, and payment on openrouter even works with crypto cards. In the worst case, you can rewrite the API for your local llama.
As a result, you can constantly receive up-to-date job listings specifically tailored to your stack without spending a ton of time on proofreading.
I intentionally didn’t create a complex architecture. Everything is kept as simple as possible.
The project will develop as OSS, and I intend to add support for other portals and work with HH.ru via API as well.
P.S. If the folks at Yandex are reading this, I hope you understand the pain of the market. My tool ultimately saves time and resources for everyone. After all, among the multitude of job postings, a candidate can find one that is truly theirs. And not create a funnel of 50 responses just to get accepted somewhere.
